Day 1 Arrival in Lhasa

Welcome to Lhasa, the City of Sunshine. Your local guide will greet you at the airport or train station with a traditional Tibetan Hada scarf and transfer you to your hotel in Nyingchi. Take the rest of the day to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude.

Day 2 Nyingchi

Your guide will take you through Kadinggou Canyon, where you will hike beside clear streams and look up at the naturally formed “Heavenly Buddha” cliff waterfall. Continue over Sejila Mountain for a chance to see the majestic Namcha Barwa Peak, then arrive at thc Lulang Forest Sea and Alpine Ranch — a landscape often called the “Eastern Switzerland.”

Day 3 Nyingchi

Visit Lamaling Temple, a serene Nyingma monastery surrounded by forest. Then continue to Basongcuo, one of Tibet’s most beautiful sacred lakes. Walk along its turquoise shores and take in the peaceful reflections of snow-capped peaks on the water.

Day 4 Lhasa

Bid farewell to the sacred lake and travel to Lhasa, the City of Sunshine. Upon arrival, visit Zaki Temple, known as the “Temple of Wealth,” where locals come to pray for prosperity and success.

Day 5 Lhasa

Step into the thousand-year-old walls of the Potala Palace, the iconic heart of Tibetan Buddhism and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s most revered Buddhist shrine, and join the pilgrims circling Barkhor Street. Feel the devotion of Tibetan pilgrims and the vibrant pulse of local market life.

Day 6 Lhasa

Immerse yourself in Tibetan intangible heritage. Visit a traditional workshop to make Tibetan incense by hand and paint your own Thangka under the guidance of local artisans. In the afternoon, watch the lively Buddhist debates at Sera Monastery — a centuries-old tradition where monks engage in animated philosophical discussion.

Day 7 Shigatse

Journey westward to the sapphire waters of Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes, set against a backdrop of snow peaks. Continue past Karola Glacier, where you can get remarkably close to the ancient ice tongue. Visit Palha Manor, a well-preserved aristocratic Tibetan estate that tells the story of old Tibet. Arrive in Shigatse in the evening.

Day 8 Lhasa

Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama and one of Tibet’s most important Gelug monasteries. Explore the grand halls and chapels filled with ancient murals and giant Buddha statues. In the afternoon, board the high-altitude train back to Lhasa for a comfortable and scenic ride across the Tibetan Plateau.
