Zhangjiajie Peaks and Canyons Nature Journey

Travel by private vehicle to Wulingyuan, home to the dramatic quartz-sandstone pillars of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Ascend the mountain by the Bailong Elevator, subject to the park’s operating arrangements for the day, and explore the mountaintop paths of Yuanjiajie. Key viewpoints include the Enchanting Terrace, Southern Sky Column, and the First Bridge Under Heaven, each revealing a different perspective over the deep valleys and vertical rock formations.

Continue by park shuttle to Tianzi Mountain, where the Imperial Writing Brush Peaks and surrounding peak forest create one of the area’s most recognisable panoramas. Descend by the park-authorized route for the day, which may vary according to weather, maintenance, and visitor flow. This is the most walking-intensive day of the journey, although sightseeing transport, regular pauses, and a measured pace will be incorporated throughout.

This morning, travel to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon for its celebrated Glass Bridge, suspended high above the forested gorge. Cross the bridge at a comfortable pace, with time to appreciate the scale of the landscape and the shifting views below. Afterwards, follow an assisted descent using the operating route available on the day, such as sightseeing elevators and the standard canyon access route. The exact canyon section will be selected according to fitness, weather, and operating conditions.

Continue to Baofeng Lake for a gentler contrast to the morning’s dramatic scenery. A boat journey across the lake offers quiet views of forested slopes, limestone formations, and reflections on the water. This combination of elevated viewpoints and calm waters creates a more balanced day, with limited strenuous walking.

Return to downtown Zhangjiajie and visit Tianmen Mountain, following the route authorized by the scenic area on the day of travel. Use the park’s cableways, escalators, and environmental transport to reach Tianmen Cave, a vast natural opening in the mountainside. The itinerary is designed to avoid requiring the 999-step ascent, while still allowing time to appreciate the setting, the mountain road below, and the changing views created by cloud and weather.

Continue along the mountaintop paths at an unhurried pace. Subject to opening conditions and personal comfort, guests may experience an available glass walkway before returning downtown.
